Avinash Chandra Chaturvedi is a HR professional with well rounded experience of close to 35 years of policy formulation and implementation with experience of working in the entire gamut of human resource including Corporate Social Responsibility, Resettlement & Rehabilitation, Safety & Industrial relations.
He is currently heading the Power Management Institute (PMI), the apex Learning and Development Body of NTPC Ltd., responsible for the Human Resources Development by Capability Building, Building Tacit Knowledge Base, and Development of Competencies for new Business Ventures of NTPC and training of freshly recruited executive trainees in addition to the training & development of existing executive manpower of NTPC.
Ir. Luk Chau Beng is currently the Senior Manager for Engineering & Maintenance at Kapar Energy Ventures Sdn. Bhd. He has vast experience in the field of maintenance and turnaround. He has also served in several national leaderships such as Chairman in the Malaysian Energy Efficiency Guidelines under KeTTHA, Technical Committee Chairman for Boilers & Pressure Vessels and Mechanical Engineering Components under SIRIM, and the former Chairman for Mechanical Technical Division at IEM. He also serves as a interviewer for Professional Qualification Examination. He had represented Malaysia as Chief Delegate at international meetings on ISO codes for Boiler and Unfired Pressure Vessel. He has also chaired and drafted the Malaysian Standards for Pressure Vessel Inspection Code
Dr. Tan Ching Sin is currently the Head of Energy Security of the Institute of Energy Policy and Research, UNITEN and a Senior Lecturer at UNITEN. He holds a MSc and PhD (Electrical Engineering) from University of Strathclyde, UK and B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from Universiti of Teknologi Malaysia.
He is involved with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) projects, private research and consultancy projects and ministries projects. Currently he is working on a project awarded by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) for the 40% carbon intensity reduction in Malaysia by 2020.
He gained various experience in energy modeling such as Model for Evaluation and Analysis of Energy Demand (MAED), WASP, Financial Evaluation of Power Project using FINPLAN Model, Model for simplified Approach for estimating environmental impacts and external costs of electricity generation (SIMPACTS) that were conducted by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) personnel collaborating with Malaysia Nuclear Agency as part of capacity building in the country.
His current research interests are Energy Economics; Energy Security, Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, deregulation and Pricing Mechanism.
Andy Horrocks is the Country Manager of AES; he is responsible for the operations and development within the Philipines which includes the Masinloc 630MW Coal Plant purchased by AES in April 2008.
Andy has been with AES since 1997 and prior to his current role; he was the Country Manager of AES Hungary and has managed various AES Generation Businesses in Italy, Argentina and Australia. He has also held various postions in both Power Plant Construction and Operations.
Prior to joining AES, Andy was a Project Engineer with PFI.
Andy also served in the British Royal Navy specializing in PWR operations and maintenance
Ir. Dr. Tuan Ab. Rashid bin Tuan Abdullah is a Principal Lecturer at Universiti Tenaga Nasional, teaching Electrical Machines & Drives, Energy Conversions and Electrical Installations. He received his BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, USA; MSc in Electrical Power Engineering with Business and PhD for research in the area of Power System Asset Management, both at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. He did a 13 month Advance Professional Training in utility companies in the Federal Republic of Germany. He has more than 27 years industrial experience which includes the management, construction, maintenance and planning of electrical network; development of business IT s system; implementation of radio communication; implementation of SCADA for electrical distribution network; development of automated meter reading system; formulation of electricity tariff: reporting of the license requirement to the regulator and the preparation of Power Station Asset Management Manual. His research experience includes the feasibility study of geographical information system, integrated supply chain management for utility, a technological review on clean coal, solar &biofuels and formulation of electrical blue print for Iskandar Regional Development Authority and transient study due to electric trains. He led a number of local and international collaborations. The speaker is a Professional Engineer registered with t the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a Corporate Member of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia. He has also served in local government technical councils at Kuala Lumpur City and Gombak District Office.
S. Nadeem Ahmed has more than Twenty 20 years of industrial experience with career as a Mechanical Engineer with Manufacturing and Engineering MRO Industry. He is experienced in Maintenance Repair, Overhaul, Testing and Evaluation of Turbo Machinery including Aero and Aero derivative Gas Turbine Power Plants. Have worked with various concerns on life extension and evaluation of combined cycle and Thermal power plants and 1600MW +,Thermal Power Plants.
As an expert in Lean Six Sigma , Maintenance programs and Reliability Programs has Provisioned various companies ( Power Generation, Oil and Gas, aviation etc) on Effective Reliability Improvement Programs, Maintenance Management Strategies and Programs optimization, Lean Maintenance and Six Sigma Process Improvement Strategies integrating the same with reliability solutions.
As a Global Event Trainer has Trained Number of professionals in Reliability programs, GT Power Plants, Thermal Power Plants, Rotating equipment, Maintenance Management, lean Six Sigma within and outside organization. He is Masters in Mechanical Engineering with Major in Thermal Power Systems Engineering and Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
He has more than 25 years working experience in power plant, started his career as a Control and Instrumentation Engineer in 1986 at Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Power Station (SSAAPS). He left SSAAPS / KEV in 2005 for JEV Power Plant and was involved in the engineering, construction and commissioning of the power plant. He was involved in setting up the JEV Power Plant Operation and Maintenance (JOM) which include staffing, training, asset management and development the operation and maintenance concept. He is currently attached with JEV Power Plant as Station Superintendent.
Dr. Amir Hisham is the Assistant GM in Strategic Planning Dept, Planning Division. His responsibilities include strategic industry study, sustainable development, green initiatives in TNB and macro pricing of electricity. He is an Associate Professor in UNITEN and was the Director of the Institute of Energy Policy Research there. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate programs in UNITEN since 1994. His experience includes the Bakun Hydro Electric project to Decision Analysis in small electricity distribution networks to developing optimization algorithms. His expert areas are risk assessment, deregulation issues and techno-economic assessment of the electricity industry. He is interested to deliver strategies that TNB can take to reduce its impact to environment within reasonable cost.
